LVN to BSN programs are nursing programs which can be taken by LVNs or Licensed Vocational Nurses if they are looking for a career upgrade. By taking this type of nursing program, LVNs can expect to have more opportunities for work as well as a higher salary since the program would provide them with the education and training they need to have a career as an RN or a registered nurse or as a nurse practitioner.

California LVN to BSN Programs

LVN to BSN programs usually take two years of school, during which students would learn more about advanced nursing skills as well as receive the necessary training for RNs. Some of the subjects and courses that LVN to BSN program students may have include anatomy, chemistry, physiology, psychology, nutrition and behavioral sciences. Upon completing the program, graduates can then take the NCLEX-RN, which is a test that all RNs should take and pass before practicing.

Graduates of LVN to BSN nursing programs have plenty of options as far as employment is concerned. This is primarily because they already have the academic and practical knowledge need to take on more duties and responsibilities than what they were used to doing as LVNs, especially if they have already passed the NCLEX-RN are already RNs. Some of the work settings that LVN to BSN program graduates or RNs can work in include hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, nursing homes and public health offices. Graduates of this type of nursing program can also choose to have a career in the administrative side of healthcare or a career as a teacher or a professor in a college or university.
